Memoir: MKKKULTRA: Making a Manchurian Candidate: The American Art of Brainwashing: What did they make you – to do?

Prologue

In his book “The Search for the Manchurian Candidate,” John Marks concludes concerning the subject of mind control: “Tampering with the mind is much too dangerous to be left to the spies. Nor should it be the exclusive province of the behavioral scientists, who have given us cause for suspicion. Take this statement by their most famous member, B. F. Skinner: “My image in some places is of a monster of some kind who wants to pull a string and manipulate people. Nothing could be further from the truth. People are manipulated; I just want them to be manipulated more effectively.” Such notions are much more acceptable in prestigious circles than people tend to think: Dr. Ewen Cameron read papers about “depatterning” with electroshock before meetings of his fellow psychiatrists, and they elected him their president. Human behavior is so important that it must concern us all. The more vigilant we and our representatives are, the less chance we will be unwitting victims.”

Documenting my elaborate tale of LSD torture beginning at AT&T Bell Laboratories is complicated but true. On the one hand, this story triggers memories and emotions that I would rather suppress; I have to fight my proclivity for anger. On the other hand, LSD opens new “Doors of  Perceptions” (from the title of an autobiographical book by Aldous Huxley, which discusses his psychedelic experience under the influence of mescaline in May 1953). Also, William Blake quipped, “If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, Infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro’ narrow chinks of his cavern.” These men are not talking about the physical world as we commonly know it. (There is a subtle world behind the veil, not presented to the general public by the media. This subtle world is the crux of this document.) Contrary to what AT&T may think, I refuse to put up walls to my perceptions.

When I was a child, walking thru the Mennonite Farmers Market near my rural hometown in Pennsylvania, where the barker auctioned off farm animals like rabbits, chickens, sheep, pigs, goats, cows, and horses, I noticed that away from the hurried action of the auction arena, people looked half asleep. Still today, people often appear to shut down when they see me, as if they had a sensory overload as if I represented a truth they wished rather not to face. I have seen things they have not seen. (As the cyborg said in the 1982 film “Blade Runner,” I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time… like tears in rain…” Time to die.) But I also wonder if my advanced training in engineering, my propeller head, or my dirty windows of perception could cause their shutting down and collapse their wave function[1]. Ultimately, if I’m the cause of their dysfunction, then maybe I can do something about it.

In the past, I’ve seen the masses as the walking dead, if not dead, then asleep as if in a trance. (But again, maybe this is me judging too harshly.) It appears the techniques of MKULTRA to dummy down the whole of society, make us docile, and control the human mind, which goes against the Hippocratic Oath, U.S. Constitution, Nuremberg, and UN Declaration of Human Rights, has been generally successful. MKULTRA was a CIA Top Secret illegal program started in 1953 to control the human mind. In 1979, Senator Edward Kennedy said that MKULTRA aimed to create a Manchurian Candidate; he continued, “A ‘Manchurian Candidate’ is an unwitting assassin brainwashed and programmed to kill.” As far-fetched as it sounds, I suspect my LSD drugging may have been an attempt to operationalize MKULTRA, to make me a Manchurian Candidate. If not to kill, then to do things in the Top Secret Covert world, because I was going thru a Top Secret Clearance check at that very time.  So, as a result of a bloated ego, I shuttle between the self-image of a trained assassin and Shaman or a “Psychic Warrior” (A book of the same title by David Morehouse,  “The True Story of America’s Foremost Psychic Spy and the Cover-Up of the CIA’s Top-Secret Stargate Program” illuminating the dark world of military psychic espionage). MKULTRA also explored ‘Remote Viewing,’ a way of creating a psychic Out of Body Experience (OBE) to visit, view, and spy on locations without regard to time or space. (I even heard the Dali Lama mention remote viewing thru an Out of Body Experience, but he did not use the same terms.) These natural forces are used for good or bad. In biblical terms, my refusal of the dark arts, with Masonic overtones, has gotten me in trouble with those of the satanic side. I refuse to join them in their dark madness; as a result, they have no problem labeling me as crazy in retaliation. But who is calling the kettle black? Who is really crazy? I can see through their veil.

Little known (and what not many want to know) is that Paul Robeson (a black 1940-50s social activist) and Richard Wright (a black author exiled in Paris between 1947 and his suspicious death in 1960) experienced similar coercion and psychiatric torture as I through MKULTRA. We have been poisoned with LSD and tortured in a secret program to control our minds. Torture changes everyone, both the tortured and the torturer, and even those who only hear about it or observe. Where to draw the line between torture and people just misbehaving very badly? Torture is the breakdown of the civilized world, civilization. If you think you can easily demarcate the line between the two, then you are probably a torturer; suffering is in the eye of the beholder. But LSD is also a mind-expanding drug, and those who first sought to control the mind have inadvertently released the mind. LSD cuts both ways. And as a result, we are all forced to understand what it means to be human, socialized in a physical world inherently void of meaning. We ache to find meaning in a meaningless world, where the message is ultimately that search for meaning. For the tortured, torture brings meaning to a world with no meaning. On the other hand, torture aided with LSD may release the mind from the body (kick-starting the 1960s counter-culture) and create an Out Of Body Experience that enables the bliss that transcends even death; I know; I have experienced it.

Eventually, one begins to know that everything that is matter does not matter; “Everything that exists is the one face of God,” the good, the bad, and the ugly. If you understand this, then read no further. This memoir is a trip down my thirty-five-year-long dark rabbit hole, where there is the hope of illumination if you can transcend the physical. Nothing I put in writing here will convey any actual meaning. Language expresses meaning from one person to another. The meaning that I’m talking about comes from looking inside. Symbols of speech do not describe what needs to be said. The ones who speak don’t know; those who know don’t speak. Understanding will not come from reading this but from being still and experiencing emptiness, … Bliss. Meaning comes when everything is taken away.

Eric Olson introduced me to this rabbit hole metaphor as the son of a man (Frank Olson) unwittingly poisoned with LSD and possibly killed by the US Government in 1953. (The CIA said that Frank Olson either fell or jumped from a 13th-floor window of the Hotel Statler on Seventh Avenue in New York.) Frank Olson worked with Ex-Nazis, who worked for the United States military developing aerosol anthrax, and agents to aid in interrogations. As the topic of his research, Frank Olson was in the position to know if the United States illegally used biological weapons against North Korea (as some captured American Airmen shot down over North Korea claimed). After living in it, Eric Olson should know about this “Rabbit Hole” by researching his father’s LSD drugging and possible death by the American Government for nearly seventy years. There are some government secrets hidden from the American people. Not for National Security reasons, for these secrets do not impact foreign governments but the American people. Going down this dark rabbit hole would, by definition, will turn any sane person crazy because it sheds light on a Top Secret world that is not acknowledged to exist. The easy thing is for this secret government to discredit you and label you crazy. If you report that you experienced this unwitting drugging, those who wish to keep the technique secret (so they can use it again on others) will attempt to discredit you and say you are crazy or maladjusted. My mass communications graduate degree tells me this misinformation technique is used by those in power on the masses worldwide to make everyone a sort of Manchurian Candidate, programmed to kill the earth and each other.

The soul of the World may be at stake; the battle for the soul of the free world. In 1953, the head of the CIA, Allen Dulles, described a “War for the Mind.” He said he wanted to counter brainwashing in the Cold War used by the Soviets, and America had to get in that dirty business. Now there is a “Battle for the Soul of the World.” This was the same year Frank Olson was drugged with LSD by the American government. You must never adjust to injustice. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Human salvation lies in the hands of the creatively maladjusted.”

A “Cult of Intelligence” crystalizes if you are still and watch the money. Their goal is to keep the public preoccupied so they don’t bother to peer beyond the veil. (I’m talking about metaphysics.) By Intelligence, I am not talking about a Cult of intelligent people; clearly, just the opposite; torture also affects the torturer. It is not natural for people to commit these heinous crimes; you must train them and pay them. At the start of the Cold War, after the Intelligence Act of 1947, Congress approved a budget to fight the spread of World Communism, creating the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency). The CIA developed interrogation techniques with Project ARTICHOKE on August 20, 1951.

Later in 1953, the head of the CIA, Allen Dulles, declared a worldwide “Battle for the Mind.” (Dulles graduated from Princeton University in 1916, and I graduated with a Masters in Computer Engineering from Princeton in 1981.) He gave this speech to the Princeton Alumni Council on April 10, 1953. Dulles approved the MKULTRA mind control program three days later, on April 13, 1953. From the MKULTRA mind control program, the Central Intelligence Agency used what was learned in a later domestic counter-intelligence program, “Operation CHAOS,” first approved by President Johnson and later Nixon, which targeted Americans from 1967 to 1974; this continued until the CIA got caught. It is illegal for the CIA to have domestic programs. The CIA spied on and harassed primarily law-abiding American citizens, who protested the Vietnam War, and fought for racial equality and women’s rights. Once torturers have a taste for coercion, manipulation, and mind control, they are addicted. These programs never go away; they do morph and go into hiding.

Those seeking control and compliance of individuals and the masses change the programs’ names and hide the budget from the American people. This budget was resurrected again in the 1980s, with Reagan’s secret illegal wars in Central America. The Reagan years were the years I was unwittingly drugged and poisoned with LSD at AT&T during lunch before I entered the Air Force Officer Candidate School for the Air National Guard. (In the book “The Manchurian Candidate” by John Marks, page 18: “After the war, personality assessment would become a new field in itself, and some of Murray’s assistants would go on to establish OSS-like systems at large corporations, starting with AT&T.”) In the mid-1980s, the CIA was accused of bringing crack cocaine from the war in Central America and into South Central Los Angeles. This is just one of the ways the CIA and their friends were raising money to support the Contras against the Sandanistas in Nicaragua. (Drug running appears to be a standard way to fund off-the-books programs.) A 1986 investigation by a sub-committee of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (the Kerry Committee) found that “the Contra drug links included,” among other connections, “[…] payments to drug traffickers by the U.S. State Department of funds authorized by the Congress for humanitarian assistance to the Contras, in some cases after the traffickers had been indicted by federal law enforcement agencies on drug charges, in others while traffickers were under active investigation by these same agencies.” This budget rose again in the alleged War On terror.

After September 11, 2001 (9/11), a George Bush-approved budget created Project Stellar Wind to spy on the American people by scooping up and data mining much of the domestic Internet and phone traffic in a warrantless surveillance program. Data mining looks at large databases to find patterns. The National Security Agency wanted to find out who was speaking to who. (The statistics in data mining began with  Bayes’ Theorem in 1763 and regression analysis in 1805.) In 2004, Thomas Tamm from The New York Times reported that the NSA (National Security Agency) was spying on American citizens with the help of AT&T under Project Stellar Wind. As I said before, I had worked for AT&T during President Reagan’s secret wars in Central America during the mid-1980s (when I was unwittingly drugged with LSD before I entered Air Force National Guard Officer Candidate School). NSA mirrored WorldNet internet traffic at an AT&T network office going into San Francisco and siphoned data into room 641A at 611 Folsom Street, San Francisco. This warrantless surveillance program created under President George Bush continues in some form today.

In the twenty-first century, the dominant world super-power uses mind control, politics of fear, and misinformation to control both the individual and the masses. As a result, the United States plays with basic concepts of human rights and human torture where the end justifies the means. In the future, with global networks and the aid of artificial intelligence, this control will be woven into the fabric of our media communications. As a result, the uninformed masses will learn to love their oppression and normalize it by projecting unconscious micro-aggressions daily.

Some ask if you had a choice, is it better to be tortured or the torturer? Torture harms both. The physical body and the mind argue for the role of the torturer. The moral high ground argues that it is better to be tortured, urging “Be the Light Unto the World.” I have learned through my tortured experience that I am god, and so are you. As a result of my LSD torture and remnants of ego, I have a fixed “God Complex.”

[1] From Wikipedia: “In quantum mechanicswave function collapse occurs when a wave function—initially in a superposition of several eigenstates—reduces to a single eigenstate due to interaction with the external world. This interaction is called an observation, and is the essence of a measurement in quantum mechanics, which connects the wave function with classical observables such as position and momentum.” As far as human interactions are concerned, I generalize this to say that before we observe someone, they have multiple possibilities (possibly infinite), but when we watch them, they collapse into this mundane physical reality.
